Herff Jones Believe in You Scholarship & Principal's Award
The Herff Jones Believe in You Scholarship & Principal's Award supports the importance of a well-rounded education and gives you the opportunity to be nominated based on your leadership, academic performance, and community service.  These criteria, along with a student essay question and a recommendation letter, are all that is necessary to provide you with the opportunity to receive a $2000, $5000, $8500 or $12,000 scholarship.  Winners will be determined next spring after a panel of ten educators and administrators from across the country review the top applications.

South Carolina Association of Counties Board of Directors Scholarship Program
This program awards four $2,500 scholarships on an annual basis to graduating high school seniors who are residents of counties chosen by lot by the Association.  Since Greenville County was selected in the draw, one scholarship will be awarded to a Greenville County student.

Scholarship applicants must be planning to attend a South Carolina college, university, or two-year technical college in the fall.  All applicants must complete the application form and write an essay on their aspirations and goals.  Two letters of recommendation are also required.

The GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program annually awards roughly 20 college-bound students who demonstrate exemplary leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship with $10,000 renewable scholarships - up to $40,000 total per recipient.

Kittie Moss Fairey Educational Fund Scholarship Program
Eligibility Requirements:

  • applicants must be high school seniors enrolled in a South Carolina high school
  • applicants must be South Carolina residents
  • applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale through the spring 2014 semester
  • applicants must have a combined SAT score of 1800 or a composite ACT score of 26
  • applicants' parents must have a household adjusted gross income not exceeding $40,000
  • applicants must demonstrate traints of high personal character and leadership
  • recipients must attend an accredited four-year college or university located in South Carolina

American Legion High School Oratorical Scholarship Contest
High school students of Greenville County have been invited by the James F. Daniel Post #3 of the American Legion to compete in the national American Legion 78th Annual High School Oratorical Scholarship Program, "A Constitutional Speech Contest."   The subject in the prepared oration must be about some aspect of the Constitution of the United States, emphasizing the duties and obligations of a citizen to the United States government.  The prepared oration must be the original effort of each contestant and must be 8-10 minutes in length.

George W. Jenkins Scholarship at University of Miami
This four-year scholarship is awarded to students based on academic merit, financial need, and an essay that demonstrates a history of overcoming significant adversity.  The scholarship is valued at more than $62,000 for the 2015-2016 academic year; in total, it is worth more than $250,000 over four years.  The award includes tuition and fees, on-campus room and board, and a $2,050 stipend per semester.

The Jenkins Scholarship is a unique opportunity open only to students graduating from high schools in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and Tennessee.  To be considered for this scholarship, student candidates must be nominated by their high school counselor.

Francis Marion University McNair Scholarship
The McNair Scholarships cover tuition, fees, and room and board.  The McNair Scholars will be a part of of the new FMU Honors Program, which provides the university's highest-performing students with a unique curriculum that includes experiential learning opportunities outside the classroom.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Be a South Carolina resident
  • Achieve a high school GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Be a high school senior with a combined SAT score (CR&M) of 1100 or higher or ACT composite score of 24 or higher
  • Display dedication to public service
  • Be admitted to FMU prior to the November 24th deadline
  • Submit two original essays: one focused on the value of public service and one focused on how you would make the most of your study abroad
  • Participate in service learning and travel opportunities while enrolled at FMU
  • Study abroad in one of several possible student exchange programs

SCAD Challenge
Take the SCAD Challenge for a chance to win a scholarship to SCAD, the University for creative careers.  SCAD Challenge gives you the opportunity to showcase your unique talent and creative vision.  Entries must demonstrate creativity, innovation, and a strong understanding of aesthetics.

Challenges are open to current juniors and seniors in high school as of the 2014-2015 academic year.  A panel of SCAD faculty will review and evaluate your submitted entry, and three winners will be selected from each of these SCAD Challenge categories: Film, Fashion, Poster, Comic Book, 2-D, Junior 2-D, 3-D, Photo, Junior Photo.

Applicants must register by December 15, 2014.
Submissions must be completed by February 13, 2015.

Christian Connector

The Christian Connector provides a $2,500 Christian college scholarship drawing each year.  This organization also provides a FREE Christian College Scholarship Resource online.  The schools included provided over $150 million in scholarships and grants last year alone.

Only students who request Christian college related information and "plan to attend or are considering attending a Christian college, university, or Bible college" are sent information.  Students who take advantage of their FREE information service and include their email address, will be sent an email which allows them to access the free scholarship resource web page.

2014-2015 WACE National Co-op Scholarship Program 

As the largest independently sponsored merit co-op scholarship program in the United States, WACE will award 195 merit co-op scholarships for a total value of $4,700,000.  These merit co-op scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors and transfer students who plan to participate in college cooperative education at one of our Partner Institutions.  College cooperative education is a unique academic program combining classroom studies with professional work experience in a field related to your education and career goals.

To qualify for this scholarship, students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale and apply and be accepted for the 2015-2016 academic year at one of the WACE Partner Institutions listed.

The Partner Institutions include Clarkson University, State University of New York-Oswego, Drexel University, University of Cincinnati, Johnson & Wales University, University of Massachusetts-Lowell, Rochester Institute of Technology, University of Toledo, Wentworth Institute of Technology, and Merrimack College.

The South Carolina Teaching Fellows Program is entering its sixteenth year of offering the state's brightest and best students up to $24,000 over four years to become South Carolina educators.  Administered by CERRA-South Carolina, the Program provides fellowships for up to 200 students each year.  These students participate in enrichment programs at a Teaching Fellows Institution, participate in professional development and leadership opportunities, partner with communities and businesses, and receive up to a $6,000 fellowship annually for four years as long as they are in the process of completing a degree leading to teacher licensure and meet the criteria to continue in the program.  A Fellow must agree to teach in a South Carolina public school one  year for each year he/she receives loan monies.

Any student who is a legal resident of South Carolina and a current high school senior, or junior graduating early, who will be attending college as a freshman in the fall of 2015 may apply.  Fellowships are based on academic achievement, references, community and school involvement, an interview and a writing assignment.  The Teaching Fellows Institutions are Anderson University, Charleston Southern University, Coastal Carolina University, College of Charleston, Columbia College, Francis Marion University, Lander University, Newberry University, USC-Aiken, USC-Columbia, USC-Upstate, and Winthrop University.

The online application will open September 1, 2014.  The deadline for submission will be December 1, 2014, with notification to Fellowship recipients in early spring 2015.
